about

Eternal Return is a journey of memory in motion. Its vibrant and glittering one- to two- minute textures offer a looking-glass view revealing both the thrill and melancholy of what we believe we remember. The colorful, freewheeling, sample-rich tracks are dotted and blended with jazzy, cinematic interludes. Taken together, the songs seem to tell a story through an atmospheric haze of reminiscence.

Drawing inspiration from both J. Dilla, Tierra Whack's Instagram account, They Might Be Giant's "Fingertips" and Dark Side of the Moon, songs float effortlessly from one to the next, a flow where almost nothing repeats except the sense of deja vu. The palette of sounds ranges from electronic to acoustic, referencing Enrico Caruso, 70’s yacht rock, and drums-and-space ambience.

Like Dilla's Donuts, the short tracks can be scattered throughout a playlist as whimsical non-sequitur bursts of joy. But also like Donuts, Eternal Return is best enjoyed as a single piece with many distinct movements, each turning to the next. In fact, the last song leads right back into the first one again, a tone cycle on infinite repeat.

HATFYR are joined by noted jazz bassist Francois Egron whose sinewy lines anchor and lift as the tunes require. His nimble and confident style, even when the bass is chopped and manipulated, helps steady the loose, organic feel.

Here Are The Facts You Requested San Francisco, California

While many groups burrow deeper into genres which seem to fracture music, Here Are The Facts You Requested finds the best music is not in fractions, but fractals. They rise above styles to speak about music in its totality - the grand melting pop.

Comprised of happy noise, the music of HATFYR is aggressively eclectic. They seek the psychedelic within pop as genres collapse and cross-pollinate.
